Adonis Grant Alexander, 89, of Washington (Formerly of Marianna, PA and Michigan) died Sunday September 22, 2019 in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care.

He was born October 7, 1929 to the late Michael and Marya Suitov-Alexander. He attended West Beth schools and would later go on to attend Wayne State University in Michigan.

He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1947 to 1950 and was proud of his service to our country.

After his time in the Coast Guard, he married Bernice Arnold Alexander, who died December 20, 2004.

He worked for many years for General Electric in Michigan, most recently as a Non-Destructive Testing Specialist in Quality Control until his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Detroit, Michigan where he served as President and Treasurer. He was also a member of St. Nicholas Russian Church of Orthodox Old Believers in Marianna where he served as Trustee. In addition, Adonis was President of the Brotherhood Cemetery in Detroit.

He is survived by a son, Gregory (Christine) Alexander of Washington, PA as well as two grandchildren; Dr. Natalie (Graham) Alexander, of Winston Salem, NC and Mikhail Alexander of Washington, PA.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are two step children; Kenneth "Sandy" Wainick and Fern Wainick Allen as well as two brothers; William "Whitey" Alexander and Mike Alexander. Also deceased are three sisters; Leatrice Sollani-Massari, Clara Moras and a sister who died in infancy.

At his request, there will be no public services. Arrangements are private and entrusted to Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, PA.
