ARTHUR SHRONTZ FULTON

Arthur Shrontz Fulton passed away peacefully with his wife and family around him on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at The Washington Hospital following several years of stroke, diabetes, neuropathy and pneumonia complications. He began his life's journey on November 12, 1941, A son of Herschel Brontz and Sara Louise Shrontz Fulton. He grew up in Washington, attending 5 th Ward School, and playing Ragtag Football with Anthony (Tony) Musto, Pete Cowieson, Jimmy Braden, and buddies.

He attended Washington High School, Class of 1959, and played tuba for the Little Prexies, where he derived the nickname "Tubby". As a teenager, he worked at Kenny Snyder's Sunoco station on East Maiden Street, which he later owned. He served in the US Army stationed in Korea as a radio communications liaison. He also was a coal miner at Vesta 4 and Emerald Coal mines. He was an employee of Washington Paint and Glass for a number of years, and enjoyed the trade. He owned Anderson Glass in Washington for a short time and founded Waynesburg Glass and Mirror which was a standard for over 20 years. His true passion was farming. In his youth he worked on his grandparent's farm, the Late Frank W. and Elsie Wilson Shrontz Farm in Ten Mile.

He met his future wife, JoAnna Millikin, at Lone Pine Christian Church. They were married in the church parsonage and serenaded by the village of Ten Mile. Together, they resided in Lone Pine and raised three children, Brent, Brian, and Laura. He dedicated his time to his children's passions as a Ten Mile Valley Baseball Coach, Past President of Lone Pine School PTA, Youth Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Elder and Trustee at Lone Pine Christian Church. He was also a former President of the Tri-County CMF group of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). If anyone needed anything Art was there! He especially enjoyed playing Tuba and marching in the Chartiers Houston Fireman's Band, and National Uniontown VFW Band. His other interests included being a lifetime member of the Washington and Greene County Antique Tractor Association, the National Pike Steam, Gas and Horse Association, and Member of American Legion Post #744. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus at social and church events.

Mr. Fulton was a past member of Lone Pine Christian Church and active member of First Christian church in Washington and was recently board-nominated as Elder Emeritus. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed his time with cousin, Frank L. Bebout, (FLB) who worked with him, traveled with the family and aided Art as the need arose.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, JoAnna Millikin Fulton; his mother, Sara Louise Fulton; children, Brent "Brenny" A. (Paula) Fulton, of Lone Pine; Brian K." Ding" (Lori) Fulton of Canonsburg; and Laura Louise "Weezie" (Jeffrey) Nedley of Washington; sister, Sally Louise "Lou Lou" (Daniel) Comstock; sister in law, Janice L. Fulton. Grandchildren include Ryan Andrew Brontz Fulton, Aaron Chase Fulton, Jeffrey Joseph Nedley, and Natalie Louise Nedley. Niece, Michelle (Tim) Wendell, Rebecca Fulton (Mathieu) Griffin, Nephew, Robert (Kari Beth) Fulton, and other Family members. Deceased are his father Herschel Brontz Fulton, and Brother, Robert John (RJ) Fulton.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 7-9p.m. Monday from 1-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 16, 2016 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Stephen Smythers officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 615 East Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
