Betty Joan Heidelmeier Plants 81 of Washington passed away Saturday March 12th 2016 in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born July 16th 1934 in Washington, a daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Heidelmeier. Mrs Plants was a graduate of Trinity High School.
She worked at the A&P grocery store till it closed. She also worked at RCA in meadowlands and ITS Corp in McMurray as an electronic wiring technician. She cared for her late husband for ten years at home after he suffered a stroke. She also was an important part of her sons race team on the National Professional Motocross circuit traveling the United States for six years,
She loved to plant flowers, garden,and run her weed wacker. She was known as the weed wacker Queen. As a child she loved to ride her bicycle. Joan was truly an angel and FAMILY was always first.
On March 2nd 1953 she married Gaylord" Pep" Plants, who died January 23, 2016. Surviving, are a son and daughter in-law Gaylord and Connie Plants, Two grandchildren Brooke and Liana Plants, a niece Kathy Butcher of Ohio and nephew Matthew Piatt as well as a sister in-law Darlene Headley Plants of Washington.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where funeral services will be held on Friday March 18, 2016 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Tim Lindsay officiating.
