Catherine C. Smalley 93 of Marianna died Tuesday November 18, 2014 in Washington Health Systems. She was born in Mount Pleasant, on August 24, 1921 a daughter of Michael and Catherine Harenchar Vargo. She was a member of Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO, watching game shows and The Waltons, as well as spending time with her family. In Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church on July 12, 1941 she married Stanley Smalley with whom she shared 43 years of marriage with before his passing on December 27, 1984. She is survived by six children Catherine M. (Ferdinand) Matula of Marianna, Stanley A. (Madeline) Smalley of Marianna, George A. (Starr) Smalley of Scenery Hill, Irene A. (Fred) Price of Marianna, Patricia A. Price of Marianna, Rosemary (Richard) Ritenour of Ellsworth, one sister Rose Hartley of Belle Vernon, two brothers Steve Vargo of Washington and Fred Vargo of Kokomo, Indiana, eighteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter JoAnn Hustava, three sisters, eight brothers, and four grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street Marianna, PA 15345 where transfer prayers will be held Saturday November 22, 2014 at 10:00a.m. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30a.m. in Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Grunebach officiating. Interment will follow in Horn Cemetery.
