Debra Miller, 65, of Houston, died at home surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
She was born March 21, 1953, in Scenery Hill, a daughter of the late Dolph and Ruth Weaver. She attended Washington High School and later attended the University of Phoenix, earning her associate's degree in marketing.
Debra was a longtime restaurant owner, including the "Cubby Hole" in Scenery Hill and also "Deb's Country Squire" in Waynesburg. She loved horses and enjoyed writing children's stories as well as poetry. She was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her two Yorkies. Family meant everything to Debra. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
On August 25, 1969, she married Albert Plants, who died August 26, 2008. She later met Fred Miller, whom she married June 9, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Miller of Houston; three sons, Robert (Bridgette) Plants and Jonathan (Carrie) Plants, both of West Alexander, and Christopher (Shannon) Plants of Houston; as well as a daughter, Lynette Murray of Clarksburg, W.Va.
In addition, Debra is survived by two brothers, D-Ray (Darla) Weaver and Charles (Jody) Weaver of Scenery Hill; two sisters, Linda (Norman) Franell of Scenery Hill and Sharon (William) Menzer, of Cokeburg; and a sister-in-law, Donna Weaver of Scenery Hill.
Debra is also survived by seven grandchildren, Robbie and Katelynn Plants, Tyler Ceehorne and Madison Plants, Dillan and Aaron Plants and Lucas Murray; a great-grandchild, Rhett Plants; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and late husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry "Penny" Weaver, and a sister-in-law, Maureen Weaver.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 3, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Monday, February 4 in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, with Pastor Fran Skariot officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, for childhood cancer.
