E. Jean Day, 96, of Washington, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Southmont, Washington.
She was born January 24, 1921, a daughter of the late Sanford and Ida Martin Gibson.
Mrs. Day was a graduate of Trinity High School. She worked at J.C. Penney and Bon Ton children's shop in Washington for many years.
She was a member of Church of the Covenant, Washington, and was a member of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Day enjoyed playing cards, bingo, watching sports and going to the casino.
In 1939, she married E. Paul Day, with whom she shared over 74 years of marriage before his death March 19, 2014.
Surviving are a son, Gerald (Margie) Day of Amity, a daughter, Phyllis Day (Anthony) Caggiula of Naples, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher (Monica) Miles Day, Gregory Day Hammel, Marnie Marie Hammel (Mari Millard); four great-grandchildren, Leah Margaret Day, Miranda Rose Day, Kiptyn Paul Hammel-Millard and Keatyn Lee Hammel-Millard; two sisters, Mary Irey and Norma Beecham, both of Washington; and a brother, Wallace "Bud" (Leona) Gibson of Washington.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a sister, Esther Cooper; and four brothers, Paul, Ralph, John and Lawrence Gibson.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, with the Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Interment will follow in North Ten Mile Cemetery, Amwell Township.
