E. Paul Day Jr. 93, of Washington died Wednesday March 19, 2014 in his home. He was born in Washington on May 9, 1920 a son of the late E. Paul and Inez Roach Day. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and then went on to attend Washington & Jefferson College. He worked as an insurance agent for many years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and then as a manager of insurance for AAA motor club where he was also the assistant manager until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Day was a member of the Church of the Covenant where he served as an elder and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of Sunset Lodge #623 Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed playing golf and cards. In 1939 he married E. jean Gibson Day with whom he has shared over 74 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Gerald Day and wife Margie of Amity, daughter Phyllis Day Caggiula and husband Anthony of Naples, Florida, grandchildren Christopher Miles Day and wife Monica, Gregory day Hammel, Marnie Marie Hammel, great grandchildren Leah Day, Miranda Day, Kiptyn Paul Hammel-Millard, Keatyn Lee Hammel-Millard. Deceased in addition to his parents are two brothers Duane and Valden Day. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 2-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, PA 15301 where funeral services will be held on Sunday March 23, 2014 at 1:00p.m. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
