Obituary

Elbin Dale Ashmore 85 of Washington formerly of Taylorstown died Thursday September 27, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 5, 1927 in Buffalo Township a son of the late Andrew and Elma Jackson Ashmore. Mr. Ashmore worked for the B & O Railroad, Washington County Bridge Department, U.S. Postal Service, several contractors in the Pittsburgh area and later retiring from PennDot. Elbin had also been a barber for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion Post#175 of Washington and a past commander of the Taylorstown American Legion. Elbin was also a member of the Taylorstown Presbyterian Church. His first wife, Veronica G. Bury Ashmore whom he married on March 17, 1949 is deceased. He is survived by his second wife Martha Donovan Simms Ashmore, three daughters Kathleen (Nick) Temas of Claysville, Barbara Ann (Emil) Wojcuich, and Tamara (Jeff) Dallatore both of Washington, one sister Marjorie Mae Cunningham of Taylorstown, a brother Larry (Carolyn) Ashmore of Washington, five grandchildren Christopher, Adam, and Celeste Wojcuich , Ryan and Chelsea Dallatore, two great grandchildren Madelyn Schnore and Jack Wojcuich, four step children Matthew (Vickie) Simms, Chris Simms, Catherine "Kitty" Simms and Tanya (Randy) Kief, four step grandchildren Sabrina and Brittany Simms, Charles and Shianne Kief and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his first wife and parents are two brothers Rev. Charles Andrew Ashmore and Robert Ashmore and one sister Mary Laverne Carson. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2p.m. until 8p.m in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 with Rev. Pat Lutz officiating. Entombment will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Graveside military rights will be accorded by American Legion Post #175 of Washington. In lieu of flowers, family suggest contributions to Hospice Care.
