Evelyn M. Murphy 80 of Marianna was called home on Monday April 20, 2015 in the Washington Health Systems. She was born in Stonewall, North Carolina on February 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Caleb and Ola Davis Gibbs. She was a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Marianna where she served as an usher. She was an avid BINGO player and loved spending time with her family. On April 28, 1956 she married Lonnie E. Murphy who died May 2, 2005. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Ricky Craig of Pittsburgh (Linda), Avis Chavelle of Fort Washington, MD, Patrick Clay of Lanham, MD, Brady Clinton of Marianna, John Cornell of Columbus, OH (Gloria), Michelle Carlyce of Bowie, MD, Lona Carlene of Fort Washington, MD (Lonnie) 14 grandchildren Eric, Janee, Patrick Jr., Keisha, Kala, Monique, KJ., Rikki, Jonathan, Alana, Jordyn, Torri, Courtnee, and Jaelyn, seven great grandchildren Josiah Max, Josiah Honesty, Chloe, De'Aun, Mason, Ah'Myreona, Akyia, sisters Rosa Lee Odom, Rev. Gloria Jean Smith, Karen Paticia Fisher, sisters-in-law Reva Gibbs, Janet Elaine McDonald, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband of 49 years and her parents are two sisters Mildred Burnley, Rita Campbell, three brothers Earl Taylor, Rudolph Gibbs, and Donald Gibbs, sister-in-law Marlene Murphy.. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street Marianna. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday April 25, 2015 at 11:00a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Marianna. Interment will follow in Horn Cemetery.
