Fremont Watkins, Jr., 90 of Washington formerly of Marianna died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Presbyterian Senior Care, Southminster. He was born January 31, 1926 in Scenery Hill, PA,  a son of the late Elva Fremont and Emma Barnhart Watkins. He attended various one room school houses in the Marianna area. He served with the U.S. Army from January 24, 1944 until May 9, 1946, during WWII, with the 802nd Field Artillery in France and Germany.

He married Sara Jane Matthews on February 25, 1949. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before her death on May 19, 2016. Fremont was a local and over-the-road truck driver for many years, retiring in 1988 from Joy Global in Meadowlands. He was a member of the Zollarsville United Methodist Church and a long- time member of the Elks in Washington, PA.

He is survived by two sons Mark (Patty) Watkins of Eighy Four, PA, Ray (Emmy) Watkins of Guyton, GA, and two daughters, Penny (John) Messer of Fredericktown, PA and Joyce (Paul) Sheppick of Coal Center, PA; seven grandchildren; Megan McCartney, Christopher Watkins, Amber Burkett, Heather Holloway, Bryan Watkins, Brittney Messer and Paul Sheppick; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers; Raymond Watkins, Donald Watkins, Gerald Watkins, and Delbert Watkins.

Deceased in addition to his parents and wife are a grandson Cody Messer; three sisters, Edith Hanson, Phyllis Kinder, Geraldine Bedillion and a brother Clifford Watkins.

Family and friends will be received from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA where funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Andy Scott officiating.
