Gaylord "PeP" Plants 84 of Washington died Saturday January 23 rd . He was born on September 9 th 1931 in Washington, son of Paul and Dorotha Plants. He was a graduate of Trinity High School. He served from 1951 to 1954 in the U. S. Army during the Korean war as a helicopter mechanic, flying into North Korea undetected many times. He worked as a Mold maker, Machinist at Hazel Atlas #1, Metro Glass, Kelly Industries and retiring from Jessop Steel Corp as a machinist. He also was a race mechanic for his son on the National Professional Motocross circuit for 6 years, competing in National, Trans AMA, Stadium and Grandprix races.
He was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian church in Pancake also the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, life time member of Anawanna hunt and fish club, Jessop club and Willow Grove gun club. He shot competition trap earning the 125 straight patch and winning numerous trophies.
His Hobbies included playing baseball as a young man for Amity. He also enjoyed.
Hunting, Fishing, Checkers, Poker, Shooting Pool and playing and watching Golf.
He was good at everything he did and was loved by many.
On March 2 nd 1953 he married Betty Joan Heidelmeier who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife is his son Gaylord Plants Jr and Daughter in-law Connie. Two Granddaughters Brooke and Liana Plants a Sister Darlene Headley Plants and Nephew Matthew Piatt.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Thursday January 28, 2016 at 12:00p.m., noon with Rev. Donna Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Upper Ten Mile Cemetery, Prosperity. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 175 of Washington.
