Gilbert E. Frye 87 of Claysville died Tuesday February 7, 2012 in Hills view Nursing Home, Claysville. He was born in Hickory PA on June 9, 1924 a son of the late Gilbert O. and Hazel Sanders Frye. He attended Hairs School. In his early years he enjoyed farming and hunting. He retired from East Finley Township Road Department after working there many years. Mr. Frye was a well-respected musician, loving to play the fiddle and enjoyed country music. In January 1950 he married Laura Mae Burt who died in 2006. Gilbert was very proud of his wife for having served in the military. He leaves behind 2 sisters Dolly Grimes of Claysville, and Geraldine (Clarence) Calvert of Waynesburg, as well as several nieces nephews, and cousins. Deceased in addition to his wife of 55 years and parents are a brother Donald Frye, 5 sisters Verna Vittek, Evelyn Pettit, Alberta Frye, Freda Thomas, and Marjorie Frye. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Saturday February 11, 2012 at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Claysville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Amedisys Hospice of PA2215 Hill Church Houston Rd Suite 1A Canonsburg, PA 15317 or to the American Society 35 W. Maiden St. Washington , PA 15301.
