Obituary

Harry L. Roupe, 95, of Bentleyville died Wednesday November 11, 2015 in the Washington County Health Center. He was born in Washington, PA on February 12, 1920 a son of Charles and Nevada Christopher Roupe. He graduated from Bentleyville High School in 1940. He worked for Bethlehem Mines Corporation, Goodrich Rubber Company in Washington, Molybdenum Corporation, and also Washington Steel. Mr. Roupe had been employed with Equitable Gas Corporation for 24 years until his retirement. He proudly served in The United States Army Air Corps. as a Tech. Sgt. during World War II with the 546 Bombardment Squadron. He later served with the 911th Troop Carriers Helicopter Unit, 20th Aviation Section as a Master Sgt. in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the V.F.W. #5454 of Elrama. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glyde. He was also a longtime member of the Masonic Sunset Lodge #623 of Washington. He was a former mayor as well as a council member of Cokeburg. He enjoyed deer hunting and watching the Steelers, the Penguins, and baseball. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Morrow Roupe. He is survived by his son Barry M. Roupe of Cokeburg, His granddaughter Robyn (Rodney) Miller of Wooster, OH, and his great grandchildren Evan and Audrey Miller and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents and wife are his brothers Everett Roupe, Ross Curtis Roupe, Donald Roupe, and his sister Stanza Anthony. Family and friends will be received Monday November 16, 2015 from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. the time of funeral services in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington with the Rev. Peter Asplin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Graveside military rights will be accorded by Bentleyville American Legion.
