Obituary

John "Jack" Charles Greene 73 of Washington died in Select Specialty Hospital in Latrobe after declining health over the past several months, on Wednesday February 8, 2012 with his wife by his side. He was born in Wyano PA on October 20, 1938 a son of the late Florence B. and Clarence Greene. Jack lived most of his adult life in Washington. He worked as Personnel manager for Washington Steel Corporation for 35 years until his retirement in 1996 He was very proud of the fact that he helped negotiate 12 labor contracts for the company. Mr. Greene was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Trustee, as well as served on the personnel Committee of the Synod. He was very active in the community serving as a charter member and first president of the Washington Steel Federal Credit Union, Manufacturer's Association, American Society of Personnel Administrators, Neighborhood Drug Awareness council, Served on several committees for the United Way, Helped start and served as treasurer of the TS Fitch Memorial Scholarship Fund, served as board member and treasurer of the Parks & Recreation Council of South Strabane Township for several years, boys baseball, and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Greene enjoyed golfing, working outdoors, daily crossword and Sudoku puzzles. He also loved spending time with his family, especially enjoying the annual family trip to Walt Disney World. His greatest pride and joy was his family, and they will miss him dearly. On May 26, 1978 he married Susan A. Greene who survives Surviving in addition to his loving wife of over 33 years are a daughter Jade E. (Zackery) Morgan, daughter Jenny S. (Ian) McDowell of Canonsburg, son John C. Greene (Angela) of Pompano Beach, grandchildren Tyler John Morgan and Chloe Renee Morgan of Washington and Jordan Freida Greene of Pompano Beach. Also surviving is a brother Clarence (Geraldine) Greene of Greensburg Deceased are two Sisters Roberta Tarr and Susan Blacka.
