Janet Lynn VanKirk 53 of Scenery Hill died August 30, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born July 23, 1960 in Washington a daughter of Kemp and Mary Theakston Lynn Jr. She was a 1978 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School. She then went on to cosmetology school. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Jan enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening, and was an avid Penguins and Steelers fan. She always looked forward to vacationing in Myrtle Beach with her family. On November 2, 1985 she married Mark E. VanKirk. With whom she has shared 27 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter Miranda Lynn VanKirk of Scenery Hill,sister Yvonne K. Plute(Martin) of Scenery Hill, and two nieces Carli Lynn Plute and Kelsey Marie Plute. Family and friends will be received in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, Sunday from 6-9p.m. and Monday from 1-9p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 1:00p.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical Church, Scenery Hill, with Rev. Peter D. Asplin officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church 21 Church Road, Scenery Hill, PA 15360.
