Janice Marie Briggs, 92, of Lone Pine died Wednesday October 7, 2026 in Southmont, Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. She was born at home in Washington on Feburary 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Walter and Katherine Smith Redd. She was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1955 graduate of Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Following graduation she married Kenneth Lloyd Briggs on June 21, 1955 and shared 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2001. Janice worked at Washington Hospital as a nurse and then as a travel nurse before she and her husband founded and owned Briggs Tire in 1975. She was a lifetime member of Lone Pine Christian Church, where she held many positions over the years, including deaconess, elder, Chairman of the Board, Sunday School Teacher and VBS Teacher, as well as Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF). She also belonged to Lone Pine VFD Auxilliary, 50 year member of DAR, and the Eastern Star. She supported various and many charities. She is survived by four children Barbara Coffman and husband Bryon, Jeffrey Briggs and wife Nancy, Scott Briggs and wife Denise, Mary Beth Maxwell and husband Keith, son-in-law Gerald Bell, twin sister Jean Anthony, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren , as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are two daughters Ruth Bell, Kathleen Walker, two sisters Emma Iverna Powell and Ethel Louise Brookman, and brother Robert Redd. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2:00P.M.-8:00P.M. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, PA 15301 with additional visitation on Monday October 12, 2026 from 10:00 A.M – 11:00 A.M. the time of funeral services.
