Joan was taken by the hand of Jesus and led to her heavenly home on June 15, 2013, surrounded by her children, after fighting a long and tiring battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born October 26, 1931 in Marianna, Pennsylvania, the first born of Stella Marie Frameli and Peter Paul Stoskel. She lived most of her life in Marianna until moving with her daughter in 1992 to Houston, PA. Joan was a graduate of West Beth High School, where she was a cheerleader. This was a story shared many times by her and her granddaughter Joanna, who was also a cheerleader. On March 4, 1949, she married the love of her life, Clement F. Allen, Sr. Together they raised their five children; Kathleen M. Allen (with whom she made her home) of Houston, Judith A. Penn (Dave) of Taylorstown, Clemmy Allen of Washington, Stella Diane Allen of Houston, and George Michael, the baby, (Georgeanna) of Waynesburg. Joan loved to bake, raise roses and to bowl. She was a loving mother, wife, sister and will be forever missed. Joan is also survived by five grandchildren David H. Penn of Pittsburgh, Thomas W. Matiyasic of Canonsburg, Cara L. Nadberazny (Joe) of Washington, Michael F. Allen (Lisa) of Fredericktown, and Joanna Marie Allen of Waynesburg; her sisters; Clara Miller (Chuck) of Marianna, Lucille Kovacich (Frank) of Deemston Boro, and Marlene Coughenour (Frank) of Washington, her brother George Stoskel (Ruth) of Washington; daughter-in-law Candy Allen of Washington, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Marva Andrevich of Marianna. She was able to welcome her first great grandchild, Rosaleigh Nadberazny, in February 2013. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Dorothy Mancini, and three nephews. Friends will be received from 2-9p.m. on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington. A Mass of Christina burial will be held at 11:00a.m. Wednesday June 19, in Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church St Oliver Plunkett Parish, Marianna with Father Paul Grunebach as celebrant. Burial to follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna. Joan loved her family, baking, decorating cakes, and gardening, all of which she could no longer remember.
