Joanne H. Piatt 93 of Washington died Friday September 6, 2024 in her home.  She was born May 3, 1931 in Lone Pine, daughter of the late James A. and Mary E. Knestrick Moninger.  She was a 1949 graduate of Trinity High School and then went on to graduate from Westminster College and then California State College.   She started her teaching career at North Franklin Elementary School, and then went to teach for the Intermediate Unit, and retired from Chartiers Houston.  She loved teaching and her students, who all held a special place in her heart, especially her students from Intermediate Unit.  Joanne was a member of Lone Pine Christian Church for many years, and more recently a member at United Christian Church of Coal Center.  She was known for her baking, cakes and pies, loved reading, painting, crafting, and woodworking.   Joanne married Robert Hough with whom she raised a son Matthew Hough (Jodi) of Orrtanna, and two daughters Beth Ann Boehm (Dave) of Coal Center and Jami Lynn Kanalis (Josh) of Brownsville before his passing in 1987.   She then married Walter Piatt who passed in 2022.  Surviving in addition to her children are a sister Kathy Moninger-Ford (Gary) of Lone Pine, eight grandchildren Nathan Hough (Andrea), Mackenzie McKolosky, Whitney (T.J.) Polacek, Tanner Hough (Marisa), Dylan Boehm(Brittney) Skyler Boehm, Austin Smith (Callen), Evan Smith (Layla),  great grandchildren Jaxon and Knox McKolosky,Sofia and Victoria Hough, Teddy and Ellie Polacek, Aubrey and Tatum Smith, Miles Boehm,  step-children Barb Piatt, Norma Piatt, Nancy Piatt, Becky Kotch, Paul Piatt, step-grandchildren Michael Swank, Austin Kotch, Stephanie Piatt, and step great grandchildren, nephew Troy Smith (Tami) and two great nephews Walker and Kolby Smith.  Private Services are being handled by Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East maiden Street Washington. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at United Christian Church 499 E.
