Obituary
John N.R. McClain 87 of Washington died Friday, April 7, 2017 in his home. He was born in Washington, PA on September 15, 1929 a son of the late William Nelson and Nellie Mae Theakston McClain. He was a 1949 graduate of Trinity High School. Mr. McClain worked at Jessop Steel until his retirement in February 1993. He then worked as a school bus driver for Matthews Bus Garage. He was a member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church and the Jessop Club. He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Miles McClain whom he married on October 3, 1986. Also surviving are two daughters Bonita Thorn and Johnna Anthony, three step-children Defonda Moreland, Heidi Mason, and Jon Moreland, a half-brother Frances Theakston, two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. Deceased are his first wife Betty Schumaker McClain who died December 1985 as well as a grandson. Family and friends will be received Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301 where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ken Barner officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Amedisys Hospice, 480 Johnson Road, Suite 230, Washington, PA 15301.
