John Henry Redd, 91 of Amwell Township died Friday May 9, 2014 in his home. He was born at his farm in Amwell Township on December 29, 1922 a son of the late Nathanial Baker and Martha Jane McCoy Redd. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and lifetime member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church. Mr. Redd was a dairy farmer through the mid 1990's. He also enjoyed working as road supervisor for Amwell Township for 37 years until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid gardener. On June 8, 1948 he married Faye Rosenna Miller Redd with whom he shared 27 years of marriage before her death in October 1975. He is survived by his daughter Linda Higgins, sister Martha Bell, seven grandchildren Kimberly Redd-O'Brien, Janet Bunts, Katina (Redd) Bruno, Doug Redd, Tim Redd, Sam Redd, and Jon Higgins, as well as 9 great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are two daughters Barbara K. Redd and Lucille Redd, two sons John Douglas Redd and Richard Wade Redd, grandson Jimmy Higgins, two sisters Margaret Redd and Sarah McCoullough, and two brothers James B. Redd and Marion Hazlett "Bud" Redd. Friends will be received Sunday from 4-8p.m and Monday from 10-11 a.m. the time of service in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, PA Memorial will follow in Washington Cemetery. All friends and family are invited back to Nichol Funeral Home afterwards for a memorial luncheon.
