John Stopka 93 of Amwell township died Sunday May 30, 2011 in the Washington County Health Center. He was born May 1, 1918 in Marianna, a son of the late Vincent and Veronica Hrossh Stopka. Mr. Stopka worked as a foreman/mine maintenance for over 48 years in marianna mine #58 until his retirement in 1983. He was Catholic, a member of the Elks, UMWA, and Amateur Radio Relay League. He enjoyed Amateur Radio, Computers, Flying, Farming, Gardening, Birdwatching. On October 26, 1951 he marred Sally Lou Savage who is deceased. He is survived by a son John A. Stopka of Amity, daughter Connie S. Northey of Pittsburgh, as well as many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are a sister Mary Knizner, and 5 brothers Vincent, Paul. Frank, Joseph, and Stephen Stopka. Friends will be recieved on friday from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street Marianna, PA 15345 where funeral services will be held on Saturday June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
