Kenneth Richard Burns 83, of Amwell Township died peacefully Thursday June 9, 2011 surrounded by his family in the Washington Hospital. He was born in Washington on June 12, 1927 a son of the late Amos and Julia Burns. He was a 1945 graduate of Trinity High School. Prior to his retirement in 1988 he worked for 41 years at Union Camp. Mr Burns was involved with the 4-H Club for over 25 years. He was a leader in the Pleasant Valley and Silver Bits 4-H Horse and Pony Clubs and received the "Friends of the 4-H Award" On December 10, 1948 he married Shirley Joan Young who died in February 1982. Surviving are a daughter Linda Fischer (Larry Haines) of Claysville, son Kenneth Burns Jr of Washington, sister Helen (Don) Wonsettler of Grove City, two grandchildren Lori (Mike) Veltri and Corey (Joy) Fischer both of Washington, three great-grandsons Mikey and Marco Veltri and Nathan Fischer, and longtime friend Ella Ann Hatfield of Washington as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased are sisters Eleanor Work, Leona Morgan, Jean Ferrell and brothers Wilbert, Amos, Robert, and Haven Burns. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-8p.n. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Monday June 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
