Laura Jean Hartman 78 of Washington died Monday February 23, 2026 in her home. She was born in Waynesburg on June 2, 1947 , a daughter of Paul Wayne and Laura Belle Lynn McCarty. She was a 1966 graduate of Bethlehem center High School. Laura worked in healthcare for over 20 years at the Washington Hospital as a Dietary Aide. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was recently attending Claysville Methodist Church. She enjoyed making baskets for shutins or those without family at Christmas and Easter. She also helped make apple butter for her church. She enjoyed Find a Word Puzzles, loved making baby blankets that she would donate, and playing games with her friends. On August 26, 1989 she married Thomas E. Hartman in the Zion Methodist Church. Together they shared 22 years of marriage before his passing on August 15, 2011. She is survived by son Nick(Sharon) Romanakis, daughter Pamela Stephens, stepsons Pat and Larry Hartman, six grandchildren Sam White, Caleb Romanakis, Jonathan (Colleen) Romanakis, Cameron Romanakis, Brooke August Stephens, and Daniella Stephens, six great grandchildren Lennox, Marlee, Nicholas, Abigail, Raelynn, Aurora, special aunt Sharon Piper, special uncle Kemp “Junior” Lynn, sister-in-law Darlene McCarty, great niece Jacie Kay, and first husband and father of her children Nick Romanakis Sr. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband Thomas are a brother Bob McCarty and niece Rachel Manning. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 4-8:00P.M. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden St Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Claysville United Methodist Church PO Box 446 Claysville, PA 15323. An online guestbook may be signed at www.nicholfueralhome.com
