Lawrence Forrest Briggs Sr. 83 of Amity died Monday February 1, 2021 in the Washington Healthsystem. He was born October 14, 1937 in Lone Pine, a son of the late Ray and Mary Crile Briggs. He was a 1957 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He then went on to a trade school in Toledo Ohio for meat cutting. He worked as a meat cutter Loblow's, A&P, Acme, Red's, Shop N' Save, Western State, and retired from Food Gallery in Upper St. Clair on January 1, 2000. He was member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church for over 50 years where he has served as a deacon. He was on the Ten Mile league Dartball Team, was a member of UFCW Local 23, which is now Keystone 1776. He enjoyed making toys out of wood and playing golf. On September 5, 1959 he married Beckie Hampton Briggs with whom he has shared over 60 years of marriage. He is survived by three children Rhonda (Ralph) Gatten of Scenery Hill, Lawrence Briggs Jr. of Amity, Danett (Brad Arbes) Briggs of Newport Ritchey, Florida, five grandchildren Chad (Joanna) Fowler of Pittsburgh, Adam (Ashley) McNary of Port View, Lukas (fiancé Elizabeth Morris) Gatten of Scenery Hill, Dallas McNary of Eighty Four, Noah (Amber) Gatten of Morgantown, a great granddaughter Aubrey McNary. Deceased in addition to his parents are 5 sisters Maxine Barker, Lois Henderson, Mary Louise Reed, Laura Jean Lyle, an infant sister Gwendolia Briggs, 4 brothers Ivan "Ike" Briggs, Milo Briggs, Ray Briggs Jr., as well as an infant brother Donald Briggs, 2 half brothers Lester and Harold Garrett. Family and friends will be received Friday February 5, 2021 in the North Ten Mile Baptist Church from 10-11a.m. the time of funeral services with Rev. Dr. Gary Schneider officiating.
