Obituary

Leeman Herman Johnson 87 of Washington died Friday December 30 2011 in the Washington Hospital. He was born in Womack Missouri on April 4, 1924 a son of William H. and Virgie Lodema Umphleet Johnson. He attended Womack schools. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army during World War II earning an American Theatre Ribbon, European -African-Middle Eastern theatre ribbon with 1 bronze star, World War II victory medal, good conduct medal as well as 2 overseas bars. He worked for AE Dicks and Jim Hall service station for 14 years before owning and operating Johnson Amoco in Washington for 26 years until his retirement in 1986. Leeman was a member of Lone Pine Christian Church, hunting club, enjoyed hunting, farming, and auctions. On July 28, 1946 he married Edna Margaret Rankin with whom he shared over 65 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife Edna Johnson are a son Richard Howard and wife Debbie Johnson of Washington, daughter-in-law Maureen Johnson of Washington, 3 sisters Trula Hahn of St. Louis MO, Eula Wells of Farmington MO, Erma Hopkins of Farmington MO, 4 grandchildren Tina(Ed) Bainer, Kent (Teresa) Johnson, Katie(Matt) Krocsko, Kelly Johnson, 7 great grandchildren Michael and Jonathan Krocsko, Morgan, Taylor, Kyle, Tyler Bainer, Aaron Conner, as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are 2 sons William Roy Johnson, Robert Leeman Johnson, 2 brothers Leonard Johnson, Hadley Johnson, a sister Verna Clark. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1-5p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden street Washington where funeral services will be held on Monday January 2 2012 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Harry Kler officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Dept. 330 weaver run rd.
