Linda Lou "Berta" McGowan, 73 of Washington died Sunday May 5, 2024 at UPMC Mercy following a massive stroke.  She was born April 11, 1951 in Washington a daughter of the late Robert and Mae Stage Garrett.  She attended Blaine Buffalo School House and then McGuffey High School.   Linda worked at Western Center.  She loved playing BINGO, casino games, yard sales, flea markets, the Carlton Restaurant in Bentleyville, her grandchildren, and above all helping others.   She married William Boyd McGowan in Waynesburg in 1983.   Together they shared 26 years of marriage before his passing on April 5, 2006.  She is survived by two daughters Tina Marie Willhoft and Kimberly Ann Garrett, four grandchildren Christine Willhoft (Ray), Samantha Willhoft (Jack), Justin Willhoft, Victoria Willhoft, eleven great-grandchildren Cierra Willhoft (Brady), Alayah Ford, M'Kenna Willhoft,  Faith Ann Pratt, Raymond Pratt Jr., Braelyn Pratt, Mason Grabiak, Maddox Grabiak, Rylee Feeney, Brennan Berdine, William Berdine, one great great grandson Astynn Ketterman, siblings Glenn Garrett (Shirley), Sandra Gomez, Dennis Garrett (Sue), Timothy Garrett, many longtime friends, Kathleen "Kitty" Sterling, Betty Getz, Alma Jackson, Carol Pochiba,Ramona Bice, several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and acquaintances, very special cousin Randy, two cats Cupcake and Homer and dog Fancy.  Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are grandson George "Pette" Willhoft Jr.,nephew Joseph Robert "Joey" Gomez, who died in infancy,  an infant brother Bobby Garrett, brothers; John William "Bill" Garrett, Barry K. Garrett, Robert D. "Bud" Garrett, and friend Sue Darnley. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 1-3 and 4-6p.m. Thursday in the Nichol Funeral Home. .
