Louise G. Mankey 94 of Amity died Sunday September 22, 2012 in Presbyterian Medical Center-Southmont. She was born on June 19, 1918 in Amity a daughter of T.C. and Katherine Faye Wiley Gaus. She attended Swarts School and Trinity High School. Louise worked at JC Penney for many years and Greenway shirt Company before retiring as assistant postmaster at the Amity Post Office. She was a lifelong active member of Amity United Methodist Church. She loved to cook. On July 22, 1935 she married William O. Mankey who died April 29, 2004. She is survived by two sons Roger W. and wife Shirley Mankey of Washington, Jerry A. and wife Mary Mankey of Amity, one brother Raymond "Bud" Gaus of Amity, one sister Janice Skelly of Valejo, California, 6 grandchildren Tammy Mankey, Kelly Stimeling, Susan DeMarco, Bill Mankey, Dan Mankey, and Kris Mankey, 11 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are two sisters Delores Kinder and Ruth Salsberry, as well as a brother Robert "Bob" Gaus. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held Wednesday September 26 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lois Swestyn officiating.
