Obituary

Martha Palmer Bayne passed away peacefully on December 30, 2012 at the Grand Residence of Upper St. Clair. Martha was born on September 14, 1917 in North Strabane Township, Washington County, Pa., the daughter of the late William T. Palmer and Anna Clutter Palmer Wilson. She graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1935 and married the late James F. Bayne on October 6, 1940. She was employed by the Trinity Area School District at Lone Pine School for 20 years. Martha was a member of the Faith U.P. Church. National Pike DAR, the Geneological Society of Southwestern Pa, the Jefferson College Historical Society, the Three Rivers Chapter of Colonial Dames, and several other geneological and historical societies. She was also a member of the Chestnut Ridge Grange for 67 years and a long time volunteer of the Citizens Library of Washington, Pa. Martha is survived by two sons, James Lynn (Kathy Beaumariage) Bayne of Steubenville, Oh and David A. (Cheryl) Bayne of Southpointe, Pa. Four grandchildren, Jamie Bayne, Chris Bayne, Ryan (Alycia) Bayne, and Jacqueline Bayne-Gilman (Jason), a sister-in-law Thelma Palmer of Charleroi and a half sister Thelma Emeraperia of Charleroi. Also deceased are a brother William T. Palmer and a half sister Evelyn Coulson. Friends will be received 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden St., Washington, PA where funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Interment will follow at the Washington cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Citizens Library, Washington, PA, the DAR, or Faith U.P. Church.
