Martha "Marty" Ann Donovan (Simms) Ashmore, 85 of Washington died Friday August 30, 2024 peacefully in her home with her beloved family nearby.  She was born November 19, 1938; daughter of the late Catherine J. Keeling (Donovan) Hammond and William J. Donovan.  She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1957.  She had vast experience working for Dr. Badiali, Dr. Corwin, Brockway Glass Co., Continental Topper, Medical Center, a teacher aide  for Trinity Area School District, and an office manager for Frank Rotunda's Night at the Races.  She was a life member of the Arms Club, where she was treasurer for five years and a life member of the D.A.V. auxiliary.  She loved paying games on her kindle, visiting casinos, reading V.C. Andrews books, playing cards with her family and building puzzles.

She married Harold A. Simms on April 15, 1959; he died on October 27, 1991.  She remarried on September 5, 1994 to Elbin Dale Ashmore, who died on September 27, 2012.

Marty is survived by her four children: Matthew "Choo" Simms, Chris "Critter" (Donna) Simms, Catherine "Kitty" Simms and Tanya Simms Kief (Kurt) Huettner, four grandchildren Sabrina Simms (Steve), Brittany Simms, Charles "Charlie" Kief and Shianne "Serena" Kief, a great grandchild Daniel Reis, sister Patricia "Patty" Donovan, three stepchildren; Kathleen (Nick) Temas, Barbara (Emil) Wojcuich, and Tamara (Jeff) Delatore, plus many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Matthew Hammond, both of her husbands, as well as a sister Mary "Ginny" Salada.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where a Christian Funeral Service will be held on Friday September 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.   Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
