Mary McCarty Frederick , 91 of Marianna died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Washington County Health Center. She was born in Deemston on October 10, 1920, a daughter of the late Vernon "Mac" and Anna Bigler McCarty. She attended Marianna Borough Elementary and graduate from West Beth High School in 1939. Mary was a seventy-eight year member of the First Christian Church of Marianna. She served as church clerk and deaconess and held various offices in the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a charter member and the first vice president of the Marianna Fireman's auxillary. Mary was also a charter member of the West Beth PTA, in which she oversaw the Savings Bond stamp program. For over 40 years, she served on the election board for West Beth Township. In later years, she was on the Marianna Library Board and member of Old Trails Business and Professional Women. Mary loved to cook, bake, and make candy and known for her fondant Easter eggs. She was an avid card player and enjoyed making crafts and painting ceramics. On June 25, 1938, Mary married Stanley E. Frederick, who died in 1983. Mary was the last surviving of her immediate family. She is survived by two daughters Linda (William) Reese of Washington, PA and Lois (David) Gayman of Beallsville, PA, 5 grandchildren, Stanley Frederick, Katherine (David) Griffin, Tara (Andrew) Knizner, Matthew (Danielle) Reese, Tonya Gayman, 5 great grandchildren, Georgia Griffin, Lorelei Griffin, Marlee Reese, Ainsley Reese, and Stephen Knizner. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are son George Frederick, brother John McCarty, and grandchildren Lorelei and Joseph Frederick. Family and friends will be received Monday September 24 2012 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street Marianna PA 15345. Additional viewing will be held on Tuesday September 25 from 10-11 a.m. in the First Christian Church 27 Barnard Ave. Marianna, PA 15345 where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Betty Rieks and Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating.
