Mildred Louise Pettit 87 of Amity died Thursday May28, 2014 in St. Clair Hospital. She was born in Marianna on July 24, 1926 a daughter of the late Evan Stanley and Hannah Anderson Collins. She was a 1944 graduate of Trinity High School and also attended Penn Commercial. She worked for Eli Demolition, the George Washington Hotel, and retired from Intermediate Unit I where she was secretary. Louise was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Evangelical Church in Glyde where she was a member of WELCA, and enjoyed volunterring at the Marianna Outreach Mission. She was a 4-H Leader for 25 years for Glyde, PTA president for many years, helped with grilscouts, enjoyed traveling especially taking cruises, and going to the beach. She also loved gardening, attending softball games, was an avid Steelers fan, and enjoyed crocheting hats for cancer patients as well as making lap blankets. On January 10, 1947 she married Harold Pettit in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Glyde. Together they shared 60 years of marriage before his passing on March 11, 2007. She is survived by six children Joan Hickman of Brownsville, Gloria Powell (Bud) of Washington, Janet Bockstoce (Frank) of Washington, Ellen Morris (Ken) of Washington, Alice Pettit of Washington, Harold "Hap" Pettit Jr. (Janice) of Amity 13 grandchildren Dawn Hickman, Chad Hickman (Jen), Stephanie Bane, Jim Powell (Jodi), Heather Michel (Scott), Frank Bockstoce (Nicole), Missy Bockstoce (Brian), Kenny Bockstoce (Tiffany), Caitlin Morris (Dan), Noell Mosco (Matt), Abby Bedson (Nathan), Travis Pettit, Trevor Pettit. Three step grandchildren Amy Morris (Devin), Michael Morris (Heather), Jodi Morris (James), 13 great grandchildren Camari Scott, Ashlynn Powell, Avery Powell, Mia Bongiorno, Colton Bane, Ryan Bockstoce, Bailey Davis, Maelyn Michel, Maya Michel, Collin Davis, Many Gardner, Roman Gardner, Davion Robertson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are a brother Evan Collins, and two sisters Eleanor Barr Kidd and JoAnn Bullock. Family and friends will be received Monday June 2, 2014 from 2-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter D. Asplin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
