Obituary

Patricia Louise (Serenta) Lese, 93, of Washington, died peacefully in the morning hours of Tuesday, November 7, 2023, surrounded by family.

She was born September 13, 1930, in Marianna, a daughter of the late Joseph Michael and Ella Pearl (McCardle) Serenta.

Patricia graduated from West Beth High School in 1948 and on June 28, 1956, she was married to Dewey Lese in Saints Mary and Ann Catholic Church in Marianna by the Rev. Zygmunt V. Szarnicki.

Patricia dedicated her life to family and friends and will be remembered as someone who was pleasant, patient and always there to lend a helping hand. She was very active in her children's schooling and extracurricular activities and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years.

Patricia was an artist at heart and spent many hours drawing and painting the most beautiful artwork imaginable. She was a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society and her paintings won numerous awards and ribbons, including several Best in Show pieces. But most importantly, many of her paintings now gratefully belong to family members who will cherish them in her memory for what she meant to them.

Patricia was an incredible cook and an avid collector with her most valued pieces being her bell collection. And along with her late husband Dewey, she was a frequent visitor at the Meadows Casino in Washington, where they spent many enjoyable hours with family and friends. Patricia viewed life in the very same way she created her art, with a unique and observant lens.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Ellen Lese of Cranberry Township; son David Dewey (Annette) Lese of Blanco, Texas; grandson Dominic David Lese of Austin, Texas; nieces and nephews Patsy Stepp Pryor, Regis Stepp, Elizabeth Difilippo Moschetta, Anthony Difilippo, William Serenta, Rachelle Moore, Pamela Hoffman, Miller Lese, Martin Lese, Maureen Speakman, Alexander Lese, William Lese, Alfred Lese, Joseph Lese, John Lese, Mary Lou Lese, Kim Wilson, Lynne Gilli, Gayla Baron, Sean Moore, and Barron Valent; many other family members; and countless close friends, especially Mary Veihdeffer and Christa Bartos, all of whom loved and respected Mrs. Lese dearly.

Deceased are her husband, Dewey Lese, and brothers and sisters Joseph Serenta, Annetta Serenta Difilippo, James Serenta, Jean Serenta Stepp, William Serenta and Elizabeth Serenta.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13, in Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, Washington. Interment will follow in Saints Mary and Ann Catholic Cemetery, Marianna.
