Raymond B. "Fuzzy" Byers 73 of Taylorstown formerly of Pancake died unexpectedly Wednesday October 19, 2011 in the Washington Hospital. He was born January 18, 1938 in Pleasant Grove; a son of the late John C. and Olive Jones Byers. He was a 1956 graduate of Claysville High School. Mr. Byers was employed by Brockway Glass Plant # 7 for several years. He also worked at Washington Mold and retired from south Strabane township Road Dept. Mr. Byers was a lifetime member of South Strabane Fire Department #1 Pancake and served as chief for many years. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. On August 4, 1962 he married Eva Mae Antel Byers who survives. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 49 years are 2 daughters Nancy Byers (John Patress) Brenda(David) Knight, two grandchildren Erika and Brandon Knight, two brothers John (Elsie) Byers, Robert (Vickie) Byers, sister Norma Jean (Harold) Wright, sister -in-law Violet Byers, as well as a special aunt and uncle Frank "bud" and Edna Gordon, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother Donald E. Byers. Friends will be received 6-8p.m. Saturday 2-4 and 6-8p.m. Sunday in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where funeral services will be held on Monday October 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Gibson and Pastor Linda Mankey Officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville cemetery. A firefighter's service wil be held on Sunday October 23, 2011 at 7:00p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
