Obituary

Richard Duane Cox 78 of Washington died Friday August 29, 2014 in Washington Health Systems following a brief illness. He was born in West Bethlehem township on May 21, 1936 a son of the late John N. and Bertha Mae Allen Cox. He attended Trinity schools. Mr. Cox worked at J& L steel and retired from Trinity Area School District in 1998. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church. Mr. Cox was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 744 of Washington for 30 years. He enjoyed camping, and watching sports. On August 30, 1957 He marred Mary Novak Cox with whom he has shared over 56 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are two daughters Deborah (William) Gibbs of Washington and Kimberly Turner (Ray Myzak) of Houston, two sisters Margaret Shipe of Washington and Ellen (Dale) Pitzer of Rogers, Ohio, as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are a granddaughter Alicia Gibbs, grandson Brandon Platt, sister Betty Fordyce, three brothers Albert, John, and Ralph Cox, as well as a brother in law Bill Shipe. Family and friends will be received Tuesday September 2, 2014 from 2-7:30 the time of service in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington.
