Richard Bernard Shargots, 74, of Fairfax, Virginia, died unexpectedly Thursday September 15, 2016 in the INOVA Fairfax Virginia Hospital.   He was born September 10, 1942 in Marianna, PA to the late George A. and Sophie E. Kaminski Shargots, Sr.

Richard graduated from Bethlehem Center High School in 1960 where he was a member of the 1957-58 varsity basketball team that was runner-up in the WPIAL finals. He was also a member of the baseball team that won their section, He graduated from Waynesburg University in 1964 and in 1973 he graduated from George Washington University where he received his Master's in accounting. He was an accountant with the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington D.C. for 40 years before retiring in 2004.

He was a member of St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church in Fairfax, VA and a member of the Federal Government Accountants Association. He enjoyed football, baseball, fishing and Facebook.

Surviving are his wife Andrea Li Shargots and two sons, Christopher and Mark both from Fairfax, VA; three brothers George A. Shargots Jr., Michael (Natalie) Shargots, James (Mabel) Shargots and two sisters Susan (Sam) Mazzaferri and Phyllis (Sam) Kightlinger and a brother-in-law, Dave Keys.

Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother Stephen Shargots and a sister Barbara Keys.

Family and friends will be received from 3 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA, where a blessing service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11a.m. in the funeral home.
