Obituary

Roy G. "Dutch" Naser, 93 of Washington died Sunday February 14, 2021 in Washington Healthsystem.  He was born in Washington on April 16, 1927 a son of the late Frank and Mary Sator Naser.  He was a 1945 graduate of Chartiers Houston High School.  Dutch then went to the service where he served in the U.S. Navy.  After he was honorably discharged from the Navy he graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.  He worked for Washington Wiring for a few years, then worked at Universal Cyclops Steel Mill until his retirement.  On March 8, 1951 Roy and Betty Ames Naser were married in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was a member and served on church council.  Dutch had a passion for farming.  He and Betty owned and operated Cool Springs Farm.  He was a 4-H leader for almost 50 years.  He served as a superintendent of the Washington County Fair Rabbit Barn where he started the 4-H Market Rabbit Program.  In 2015 Roy and Betty received the Outstanding Fair Ambassador award.  He was also a member of the Washington Cattleman's Association and the Farm Bureau, as well as a Chestnut Ridge Grange member.  He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years Betty Naser, children Nancy (Jim) Banfield, Randy (Debbie) Naser, Janet (Gary) White, Barb(Bruce) Gwin, Jim (Lori) Naser, Kathy (Chris) Nassar, David(Cindy) Naser, grandchildren Brandon Banfield, Laura Ann Kimutis, Leslie Newman, Andrew and Natalie Naser, Rachel Blackburn, Joshua, Taylor, Mackenzie, Gabrielle White, Devan Gwin, Elizabeth Mowrey, Zachary, Brittany Gwin, Julia Naser, Katelyn, Travis, Garrett Nassar, Austin, Jeremy, and Alayna Naser, step-grandchildren Jenny Dunmore and Brian Priesendorfer, 7 great grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren, two sisters Charlotte (Albert) Greene and Donna (Bob) Pfaff, as well as many nieces and nephews.   Deceased in addition to his parents are a grandson Bobby Banfield, and two brothers Shannon and Cletus Naser.  Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington and from 10a.m-11a.m in the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday February 19, 2021 where Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. with Rev. William B. Henry Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Capital Campaign in Dutch's name.
