Obituary

Sara Jane Watkins 89 of Presbyterian Senior Care Southminster, formerly of Marianna died Thursday May 19, 2016 in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born on August 10, 1926 in Beallsville, a daughter of Sheldon and Estella Swihart Matthews. She graduated from Beallsville High School in 1944. She was a homemaker. She loved camping, music, especially country western, watching sports on TV and spending time with her family. She was a member of Beallsville Presbyterian Church , where she taught Sunday school and also a member of Zollarsville Methodist Church. On February 25, 1949 she married Fremont Watkins Jr with whom she has shared 67 years of marriage. She was the last of her immediate family. Surviving in addition to her husband Fremont Watkins Jr. of Washington, are four children Mark (Patty) Watkins of Eighty Four, Ray (Emmy) Watkins of Guyton, Ga, Penny (John) Messer of Fredericktown, Joyce (Paul) Sheppick of Coal Center, seven grandchildren Megan McCartney, Christopher Watkins, Amber Burkett, Heather Holloway, Bryan Watkins, Brittney Messer, Paul Sheppick, and ten great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to her parents are four sisters Clara Bane, Mildred Addis, Fern Matthews, Opal Williams, and a grandson Cody Messer. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Andy Scott officiating. Interment will be private.
