Shirley B. Stolfer Newbrough 88 died Tuesday October 3, 2023 in the Donnell House, Washington. She was born in Marianna on September 30, 1935, daughter of the late Fred D. and Alta Townsend Brooks. She was a 1953 graduate of West Beth High School. Shirley started her career as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone and later Kelly Services. She had many working opportunities, owning Stolfer's Coffee Shop at the Millcraft Building. She ended her career search working as a secretary at the Washington hospital for many years until her retirement in 1997. Shirley had many hobbies, which included being a spokesperson for the homemaker's of America, playing darts and bowling. She loved supporting her daughter and grandchildren in their many sports and activities. She is survived by daughter Carolann Stolfer Vahaly and husband Greg of Bentleyville, step children John Newbrough Jr, Stephanie Shuttic and Anis Terbovich all of Cortland,Ohio, two grandchildren Joseph Robert and wife Jalane Vahaly and Vincent Alan Vahaly, step grandchildren and 1 great grandson, Everett. Deceased in addition to her parents are her first husband Robert Lewis Stolfer with whom she shared 38 years of marriage before his passing in 1994, as well as her second husband John Newbrough with whom she shared 10 years of marriage before his passing, and two sisters Clementine Piper and Peggy Weaver. Family and friends will be received Monday October 9, 2023 from 1-4 and 6-9p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 10, 2023 at 11:00a.m. memorial donation may be made to the Donnell House 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301 or at giving@concordiaLM.org
