Steve C. Vargo, 88 of Marianna died Monday October 17, 2016 in Transitions Healthcare, Washington, PA He was born September 10, 1928 in Marianna, a son of the late Michael and Catherine Harenchar Vargo. Steve had attended the Marianna Boro school.  He was a coal miner and was employed from 1946 until 1988, at Mine # 58 in Marianna, when he retired from Beth-Energy Mines Corporation.  Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #744 of Marianna, PA where he enjoyed attending many dances and other functions.  Steve also enjoyed music, coloring and spending time with his great grandchildren. His wife Mary Jenkins Crile Vargo is deceased. Surviving is a grandson, Donald L.(Kelly) Crile of Fredericktown, PA, One brother, Fred Vargo of Kokomo, Indiana Two Granddaughters, MacKenzie and Madalynn Crile as well as several additional grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces, and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife are four sisters, Rose Hartley, Katie Smalley, Mary Hayges, Marge Potisek, six brothers Paul, Michael, Andrew, John, Richard, and George Vargo, as well as several infant brothers and sisters. Friends will be received Friday October 21, 2016 from 2-7p.m. the time of funeral services in the Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street, Marianna, PA 15345. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #744 of Marianna, PA. In lieu of flowers the famiy suggests memorial contributions to American Legion Post #744, Marianna, PA.
