Vaughn Byron Curry of Virginia Beach and formerly of Lone Pine, Pennsylvania, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 23, 2020. Born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, to Abe B. and Mary Violet (Gamble) Curry on October 17, 1931, Vaughn was a wonderful and loving husband, Dad, Pap, and friend to many. He is survived by the love of his life, M. Joanne "Jo" (Williams) Curry, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage, and their children, Leeanne Strimel (Brad), Lucinda "Cindi" Hill (John), Tracy B. Curry (Andrea), Mark D. Curry (Carla); grandchildren, Eric Strimel (Jessica), Jillian Schneider (Bub), Jennifer Preston (Brian), Jake Hill (Leslie), Clayton Hill (Lauren), Leah Pope (Rob), Nathan Curry (Catherine), Nick Curry, Alex Curry, Ashley Curry, Cole Curry; eight great-grandchildren, Ava, Eli, Rachel, Jaxson, Mary Lane, Beric, Asa, Avett; sister-in-law, Shirley Curry, nephew, Willard D. Curry, and niece, Lori Courson (Bill). Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willard G. Curry.

Vaughn went to Lone Pine Elementary School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1950. He is a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the Army as a cook at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. Vaughn was a salesman at heart and worked for Gutman Supply Company, and then retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. after 25 years of service.

Vaughn loved the Lord. He grew up and was a lifelong member in the Lone Pine Christian Church, where he sang in the choir and worked with youth groups. After moving to Virginia Beach, he faithfully attended Bayside Christian Church, where he loved going to Sunday School and Bible Study.

Growing up in Lone Pine, he played on the Lone Pine baseball and softball teams and played dartball at the firehall. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, and the Dodgers. His pastimes, hobbies, and love of outdoor activities included: gardening, horseshoes, hunting, rock collecting (for which he would always ask his kids and grandkids to "get me a rock for my collection" whenever they would travel), metal detection, listening to and singing country music, and, his most favorite of all time, fishing and his annual trip to Vermont with his buddies Bob, Mike, Al, Marty, Angie, Dante, Tom, Tracy, Mark, Eric, John, and Clayton. He was also very creative and enjoyed writing poems, stories, and historical accounts of his memories of growing up in Lone Pine. Funeral services will be private.
