William Wallace Kottner, Sr. 89 of Washington died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his daughter and son-in-law's home surrounded by family. He was born on December 1, 1927 in Washington, PA to the late John and Allene Loucke Kottner. He was a graduate of Washington High School, where he played high school football and basketball. He attended the University of Maryland. William served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an engineer for Bell of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1984. He married Ann G. Crowe on September 2, 1950. William was in various bowling, softball, and basketball leagues and was a member of the Masons. He liked traveling with his wife and playing cards with family and friends. William enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ann Crowe Kottner, a son Dr. William Wallace (Cindy Paul) Kottner, Jr. of Washington, PA and a daughter Becky A. (William R.) Devore of Washington, PA, five grandchildren: William W. (Jill) Kottner, III, Kristina N. Devore (Douglas) Hancock, Nathanial P. (Amber) Kottner, Matthew R. (Jessica) Devore, Brent M. Kottner (Lexi DiBonaventura), five great-grandchildren, ten nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are two sisters June Kottner Huffman and Ruth Kottner Beagle. Family and close friends of Ann and Bill will be received Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Scenery Hill, PA from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Peter D. Asplin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 in memory of William Kottner.
