William Francis  McDonald Jr. 73 of Washington died Thursday July 14, 2022 in his home.  He was born at home in West Finley Township on October 29, 1948 a son of the late William Francis Sr. and Florence Renner McDonald. He was a 1968 graduate of West Greene high School.  He then went on to serve in the United States Army with the 1 ^st -5 ^th Air Cavalry in Vietnam.   Bill then worked for the State Correctional Institute in Pittsburgh until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement from there he worked at America's Auto Auction until he retired from there in 2010.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as lifetime subscriber to Bassmasters and Field and Stream.

On October 6, 1979 he married Darlene Mirto with whom he has shared 43 years of marriage.

Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene McDonald are daughter Theresa (Jon) Messmer of Washington, and William Francis III (Laura) McDonald of Mather, three grandchildren Christian Messmer, Noah Smider, and Piper Rowley, two nephews Robert V. IV (Brenda) Caldwell of Washington, James Scott McDonald Jr. of Masontown, two nieces Renetta Shaw of Carmichaels, and Judy McDonald of Waynesburg, as well as several great nieces and great nephews, as well as great great nieces and great great nephews.  Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother James Scott McDonald Sr., sister Sara Louise "Susie" Caldwell, great niece Megan Caldwell and great nephew Thomas Tarr Jr.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.  in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington Pa where funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Fryer officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Garden McMurray.  An online guestbook may be signed at www.nicholfuneralhome.com
