William Olon Whitfield, 77 of Washington died Friday August 21, 2015 in his home. He was born in West Bethlehem Twp. On May 23, 1938 a son of William R. and Dorothy K Horn Whitfield. He was a Trinity High School Graduate. He proudly served in The United States Army from 1955 to 1958. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Washington for many years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church in Amity. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Bowling and Gardening. He is survived by his wife, Alice Franks Whitfield, with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage. Also surviving are two sons, William D. Whitfield of Maryland, Thomas R. (Susan) Whitfield of Scenery Hill, Two daughters, Billie (James) Whitfield-Verdu of Washington, Carol Marie (Michael) Wharton of Raleigh N.C., three Grandsons, Thomas, Kevin, and Michael Whitfield. Deceased in addition to his parents is one brother. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 6 until 8 P.M. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington. Graveside services will be held Monday August 24, 2015 at 11:00a.m. at North Ten Mile Church Cemetery 322 Ridge Church Road, Amity, PA 15311.
