Wilma Matyk Sonoga passed away in Auburn, AL Wednesday, July 16, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born August 1, 1919 in Rices Landing, PA the daughter of Barbara & Andrew Matyk. She married John Paul Sonoga in 1942 and lived in Marianna, PA for over 65 years. She is preceded in death by her husband John Paul Sonoga and son John William Sonoga. She is also preceded in death by four brothers: Andrew, George, Paul and Edward Matyk and four sisters: Mary Biskup, Helen Slanina, Barbara Stemnock and Sister Mary Anna Matyk, O.S.F. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn (Joseph) Oven, Auburn, AL, grandsons Jay (Tracy) Sonoga, Phoenix, AZ, Thadd (Tammy) Sonoga, Rochester, NY, Josh (Jeneane) Sonoga, Morgantown, WV, Joe (Laura) Oven, Phoenix, AZ and Matt (Kathleen) Oven, Denver, CO. Wilma had ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She always encouraged and supported her family. She was a member of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish, Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church in Marianna, PA. Viewing will be held at Nichol Funeral Home 1728 Main Street, Marianna, Monday, July 21 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 22 at 10:30 am. In St. Oliver Plunkett Parish, Sts. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church, Marianna. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park.
