Melissa L. Nichol-Sergeant

Funeral Director

Missy is a proud sixth-generation funeral director whose heart for service has always been tied to her family and community. She grew up in Pancake, attended Laboratory Elementary, and graduated from Trinity High School in 2001. After beginning her studies at Washington & Jefferson College, she transferred to Marshall University and completed her undergraduate degree in 2006. She went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2007 and spent the next ten years working alongside her family at the funeral home.

In 2015, Missy expanded her dedication to caring for others by graduating from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She then worked as a nurse at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for five years before stepping away to welcome her first son. That experience reaffirmed her calling to continue her family’s tradition of service, and she returned to the funeral home, where she plans to serve for many years to come.

Missy and her husband, Kurk T. Sergeant, make their home in Washington with their two sons, Kurk John Thomas and Matthew James. Family and faith are central in their lives, and together they attend Arise Christian Fellowship in Washington.
